While a large proportion of citizens in the country spend the whole day for only 1 euro and 70 cents, others are spending their money in luxury. Kosovars spend a good part of their annual income buying gold.
Even if you look at the statistics of Kosovo Customs it turns out that every year they spend over 1 million euros on precious metals.
Customs spokesman Adriatik Stavileci told to media that 1.5m euros worth of gold has entered the country in the past seven months.
“During this (until the end of August) we have about 360 kg of precious metals in import. While the value of the products is mainly Turkey and Italy but also other countries”, Stavileci said.
According to Customs statistics, in the last five years they have spent less than 7 million 340 thousand 467 euros in gold. With all this money over 5732 pounds of precious metals has been bought.
Kosovars also buy gold from Austria, Switzerland, China, Germany, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic and Thailand. Meanwhile, some gold has also been purchased in recent years from Taiwan, Cambodia and the United States.
