Since the early hours, dozens of aid trucks have flown from Kosovo to Albania in addition to rescuers.
But this large influx of aid was faced with the problem of non-coordination, where many trucks did not know where to download in order to avoid the abuse.
This is in terms of food aid, blankets, clothing, etc., and in the last few hours, there has been another situation regarding financial aid.
The devastations are enormous, which requires huge amounts of money to recover, which seems to be missing ... at least on paper, so far.
The Albanian state itself issued a special number of accounts that financial aid can be donated only 24 hours after the earthquake, confirming a lack of coordination at least during the first day after the earthquake.
Finally, major businessmen in the country have stated that they have offered or will provide significant amounts of money in the form of donations to cope with the earthquake-caused disasters.
A preliminary estimate estimates that the total amount promised so far by a small number of businessmen is around 6-6.5m euros.
The promises have been made public with great publicity amid a disaster where public attention is high.
Only publicly amounts have been calculated here, through media publications on behalf of these businessmen and not those collected by the government or other organizations.
We are also collecting these, the amount donated seems to be substantial and can best meet the needs of the residents if are collected as promised and sent to the destination.
Although we have promises of large sums being donated, there is no information so far from public institutions on how this money will be managed.
We have no data to explain how they were collected or will be collected by those who promised, where will be deposited and how will be used thereafter.
Also, although there is no obligation in the donation, there is still no indication of how it will be practically possible to collect the promised amounts so that after a few days or weeks, will not remain only publicity.
Te transparency is paramount in situations where many are inclined to help so that statements to help are not left alone in the words and, moreover, the money goes to the injured party.
In a time where there are sensational statements about the allocation of large sums, public institutions should provide data on:
-What is the institution that will raise this money?
-What is the amount collected so far?
-Where will the promised millions of the country's largest businessmen be used?
Until the answers to these questions will see the light, everything remains only in the context of the words and promises and the complete lack of transparency in managing this money.
We remind that there are many millionaires, foreign states and organizations that have made public their donation. Only out of these amounts we can count so far over $ 10 million in cash.
The first sparks of corruption have been ignited, as just hours before two police officers and a firefighter has been arrested for stealing aid meant for earthquake victims.
We must not forget that Albania is Europe's most corrupt country by all statistics.
