Black Diamond Apple |
The experiment of Keshi with the culmination of the unique Black Diamond Apple has proved successful by bearing the first fruits.
This kind of apple is very rare in the world can now also be cultivated and grown in Albania, except for its country of origin, Tibet.
Farmer Zija Keshi in May this year experimented with the cultivation of this variety by cultivating only 10 saplings commissioned by Tibet, the only place in the world where these apples are grown.
During this month, he said to AgroWeb that the tree has yielded the first fruits to best suit the conditions and climate of that part of Albania.
“In May arrived the first seedlings I ordered from Tibet, China. My goal was to test whether this varietal would suit the climatic conditions and soil structure here.
All the time from the moment of planting and onwards have been adapted very well and this gave the first fruits,” Keshi said.
Following the first experimental phase, which has already proved successful, the farmer from Dibra, known for cultivating rare varieties such as Ariona, will begin cultivating also the Black Diamond Apple.
"I am ready to do a plantation, although I am still looking at 100% climate change because it still takes a year to get the right result, I am confident that this culture will thrive in our country," he said.
In December I expect from Tibet, China, to have a shipment of 100 saplings, which I will cultivate on our farm,” says Zija Keshi.
Details That Make The Apple 'Black Diamond' Remain Unique
This apple is quite different from the others. Its color is very dark purple that approximates black, especially at dawn.
This apple is far from other types of this fruit.
The first change lies in the color that results from prolonged exposure to the sunlight.
Every morsel of this unique is unlike the other apples.
The severity of the fruit pulp is attributed to the harsh climatic conditions at the top of the mountain where temperatures drop sharply.
These temperatures strongly affect the skin of the fruit.
The black apple has to survive in these conditions and forms a thicker skin to be protected from frost.
This skin protects and preserves the inner taste of apple which is described as extraordinary. Black apple is a very sweet fruit but unfortunately is inaccessible.
To get this real diamond, one needs a plane and a lot of money.
People in Tibet say it's easier to climb Mount Everest than to rip an apple like this.
However, variants of this apple have been seen to be sold in Asia, but with only a few grains.
This is due to the difficulties farmers face in planting, growing and cultivating this apple.
The main reason is the low temperature that enables the growth of this precious and elite apple.
