On Ukrainian TV channel "1 + 1", Stoltenberg spoke about NATO membership of North Macedonia and Ukraine, recalling that two years ago Montenegro became a NATO member.
“North Macedonia will become a NATO member within a few months. No one could have imagined that Poland and the Baltic countries would become NATO members after the Berlin Wall came down," Stoltenberg said. He said Ukraine could also become a NATO member.
"All allies have decided that Ukraine will become a NATO member," he said. We will help carry out the necessary reforms in order for Ukraine to join NATO and modernize society," Stoltenberg said.
The Alliance's secretary-general said Montenegro became a NATO member two years ago, adding that, during his previous visits to Ukraine, Stoltenberg said NATO's doors were open to Ukraine.
