Lithuania and Norway exchange spies with Russia in Vilnius

Two Russian spies were exchanged today at the Russian-Lithuanian border with two Lithuanians and a Norwegian convicted of espionage in Russia, a worthy episode for the Cold War witnessing tensions re-emerging these years in the region.

"Today, the exchange operation was successfully completed," Lithuanian intelligence chief Darius Jauniskis told the press.

"Lithuanian citizens Jevgenij Mataitis and Aristidas Tamosaitis and the Norwegian citizen Frode Berg have arrived well in Lithuania," he said, adding that the exchange took place at the border between Lithuania and the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

Two Russians, Nikolaï Filiptchenko and Sergueï Moïsseïenko, hailing the Lithuanian president, were handed over to the Russian side,” Jauniskis added.
