During the meeting, representatives of the Greek National Minority reported that they presented the main challenges and problems facing minority members in Albania, citing the issue of guaranteeing the free exercise of the right of self-determination, both in the context of legislation implementing the legal framework of Albania for the protection of minorities, which should have already been approved, and in relation to the census (census) planned in Albania next year.
According to Greek media, they also stressed that it was important to resolve the property issue, which directly affects the ability of minority members to survive in their homeland.
Other issues discussed, according to government sources, were the education and use of the Greek language, the issue of migrant pensions, as well as assistance for uninsured immigrants, as well as support for young expatriate entrepreneurs who wish to become active in Albania.
The Greeks expressed gratitude for the Greek government's support for minority members and the institutions that represent it and expressed hope that the Prime Minister would visit the areas where the minority lives, a visit that Kyriakos Mitsotakis promised to pay.
The prime minister assured representatives of the Greek National Minority that the Greek government will be firmly on their side, stressing that the progress and prosperity of the minority is an important and high priority on the agenda of Greece's relations and dialogue with Albania, while Albania, in the context of Albania's commitments in the context of its European perspective.
The prime minister referred specifically to his latest meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, with whom they agreed to take concrete steps forward, starting with the issues facing the minority and with the aim of finally resolving all outstanding issues in bilateral relations.
