Senior Turkish state officials, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, visited Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's mausoleum "Anıtkabir" in Ankara on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the death of the leader and founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who has Albanian roots.
Erdogan in Ataturk's mausoleum after putting on a white carnations white crown and motifs with the moon and star held a minute of silence in his remembrance at 09:05 local time, the hour in which Ataturk passed away 81 years ago and then the national anthem was intoned.
During the honor stand the Turkish flag was lowered in half.
In the special notebook Erdoğan wrote:
"Today, on the 81st anniversary of the death of veteran Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, we once again commemorate his personality as commander-in-chief of our struggle for independence, as the founder of our Republic and as our first president. In the heart of our people will always live the sacred memories of all our martyrs and veterans who fought for a thousand years to make this territory a homeland for us with the late Ataturk and his gun companions. We will continue to work with all our might to strengthen, develop and keep our Republic alive, which was also your testament. May your soul be at peace."
At the Erdogan ceremony, during the visit to the Ataturk Mausoleum he was accompanied by the Vice Presidents of the Turkish Parliament, Süreyya Sadi Bilgic, members of the Turkish Presidential Cabinet, CHP Party Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the Good Party (IYI) , senior judicial officials, force commanders and other state officials and other political party representatives.
At the end of the ceremony, the Mausoleum was opened to the citizens for visits as well.
