“The responsibility be in maximum. The responsibility will go wherever it is, either to the builders or to the officials, wherever the Prosecutors will verify and gather evidence that there are elements of criminal responsibility there will be no hesitation in any case,” said the chief prosecutor.
Mr. Cela also said that investigations show that the law on construction in force is flawed, while Durres Prosecutor Anita Jella stated that she has requested technical assistance from the Supreme Prosecutorial Council with experts and engineers for investigative actions.
After Durres, the General Prosecutor went also to the Kruja Prosecutor's Office where he contacted the investigative group set up to demolish the palaces in Thumana.
A day earlier, Chief Prosecutor pledged to hold accountable those who have abused relating to the buildings, citing the loss of 51 lives on the November 26 earthquake.
He was optimistic that work would continue for the better and for positive change.
Mr Olsian Çela has been voted by a qualified majority of 101 votes in Parliament and will lead the Albanian Prosecution until the end of 2026.
