These are the conclusions of the first 10-year report on sex crimes against children and women in Albania.
CRCA / ECPAT, together with the Center for the Protection of Children and Young People from Sexual Violence in Albania, brought the figures of sex crimes against children and women from 2008 to 2018.
“The situation in 2018 has a positive trend. But when compared to 2008, there is a doubling of crimes that have taken place since 2008,” said CRCA Director-General Altin Hazizaj to Euronews Albania.
According to the report, girls and women are the most affected by this violence.
“We are far from taking action, despite the problem. Juvenile sections should have been set up at both the Prosecutor's Office and the courts. Failure to comply with these sections due to the delay in justice reform will undoubtedly have consequences, ”said Altin Hazizaj at Euronews Albania studio.
