Alex Soros and Ilir Meta |
The president's reaction, according to him, comes in response to Kastriot Islam, but also to other people who have commented on the meeting, linking it to the Balkans Mini Schengen.
"The three topics that I have focused on have been the seizure of justice by the Prime Minister, the deterioration of media freedom and freedom of expression, and the revival of civil society in the country against human rights violations and violations of the values of democracy. The only topic not mentioned by my Spokesman was that of earthquake management”, Meta writes among other things.
An answer for my friend Prof. Kastriot Islami and all the rest!
I understand the emotional or sincere emotional reactions to my meeting with Mr. Alexander Soros, Vice President of the Open Society Foundation, made public by my Spokesman, Mr. Blushi.
It didn't seem appropriate for me to react to them, but after writing to Mr. Islami, who is already a well-known intellectual and former Foreign Minister, I have to clarify some circumstances and erase any misunderstandings.
I do not know the reasons for Mr. Soros's visit to Tirana, nor have I asked about these, as Albania is open for everyone to visit.
Of what I do know is that since July when I made some accusations about the role of the Open Society Foundation in seizing the new justice from the Prime Minister, there have been some formal requests for a meeting from representatives of this Foundation, in particular, to clarify their position on the Justice Reform.
It would be unethical on my part that while publicly expressing my reservations about them, to would avoid a direct meeting, to express these concerns even more closely. Other than the aberrations and lies are not in my character.
The meeting was made on official request and was official. The topic of the so-called Mini-Schengen did not exist at the meeting.
The three topics that I have focused on have been the seizure of justice by the Prime Minister, the deterioration of media freedom and freedom of expression, and the revival of civil society in the country against human rights violations and violations of the values of democracy.
The only topic not mentioned by my Spokesman was that of earthquake management.
Concerning the so-called "Mini-Schengen" I have made it clear publicly and repeatedly that any regional initiative is useful when it is inclusive and not exclusionary when it is guided by the partnership and not paternalism when it brings cohesion and not confusion and even more disunity.
As for my attitude towards the state of Kosovo and its independence, everyone knows my position. All the more so for the Kalimash Tax.
No meeting changes the agenda of the President of the Republic of Albania and his commitment to restore sovereignty to all Albanian citizens by guaranteeing the implementation of the referendum as a constitutional right.
