Erion Veliaj |
“Today we approve Tirana's largest budget in 100 years as the capital and the 100th-anniversary budget. It is a jubilee year, for which we are preparing for many activities and cultural events, to mark as the capital of all Albanians”, said Veliaj.
Following two earthquakes in September and November, the City Hall has decided to raise funds for civil emergencies and will continue rebuilding and repairing damage after the devastating November 26th earthquake. “Reconstruction work does not end here. Even today, we will spend 300 rental bonuses to bring over 2000 the number of families that have 100% of rent paid by the municipality. An in-depth study should be done on the evacuated buildings, whether they are recoverable or need to be rebuilt,” said Veliaj.
Despite rumors of protests the following year, Veliaj announced the demolition of the National Theater, the launch of works for the construction of the "big ring" and a number of important projects planned in the budget. “You know the principle, we finish our works in the morning. As they wake up, the new theater has begun. So, very soon next year, the work on the new theater will start. I'm sorry for those who were stuck there, they may have been remembered for doing art, but they are being remembered for banal quarrels between them,” Veliaj said.
"The big ring is a project for the whole of Albania, so it is pointless to point it out, the ring will be done, as it has begun to be done."
Although the case is still in Court, in 2020 a special fund has been earmarked for the alienation of the Botanical Garden and the Zoo project, the Kashar economic zone project, the expansion of Lana, the construction of the Pyramid innovation center and the transformation project of 100 neighborhoods in Tirana.
