The head of the Military Intelligence Service (MIS), Christof Gramm, said in an interview with the Welt am Sonntag newspaper that in 2019 a total of 14 pro-extreme soldiers have been identified, 8 of them from the far-right. According to him, the decision to remove these persons has been implemented.
After announcing the investigation into the 550 members of the German military who are believed to be on the far-right side, Gramm said that in 2019 an investigation was launched against 350 soldiers.
He noted the high rate of soldiers suspected of being from the far right in the Special Forces (KSF) unit in the German army and that the investigation into about 20 soldiers is continuing.
Gramm emphasized that Germany has taken the matter very seriously and is investigating allegations that there is a "secret army" within the armed forces.
“In these investigations, we have identified persons who are pro-extreme and who are in violation of the constitution. These knew each other partly. We have not yet identified any group that is willing to eliminate our state, even to use the violence. Despite the fact that the judiciary is interested in this, we will continue closely to pursue this issue," said Gramm.
