Montenegro's Editor-in-Chief of 'Fos Media' Anjela Djikanovic has been arrested on suspicion of spreading panic with the news that '250 members of the Kosovo Special Police (KSP) had been available to Montenegrin authorities for intervention on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas Night.'
According to reports in the Montenegrin media, police have said that news this media has been "triggering panic by delivering false news”.
Montenegrin authorities said that "everything in the text of this news was an absolute lie and an attempt to spread misinformation aimed at spreading panic".
Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo also reacted during the day, denying these reports.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Kosovo strongly denies the defamation published by FOS Media and some other local portals in Montenegro regarding the alleged 'availability' of the Special Police of the Republic of Kosovo for intervention in the territory of the Republic of Montenegro on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas Night. The Republic of Kosovo respects the sovereignty of the Republic of Montenegro and notes that under the applicable laws and the Constitution, the responsibilities of the Kosovo Police are limited within the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo considers that false information and malice that do not serve to sustainable peace and security in the region and calls on such circles to reconsider the harmful attitudes that serve to strain interstate and inter-ethnic relations.” is said in the reaction of the Kosovo MFA.
After the publication, Fos Media withdrew the text and apologized.
