Vlora police have finalized an operation stopping a ferry with dangerous waste coming from Italy. Six people were arrested during the operation.
According to information obtained on the operational route by the structures of the Criminal Police Department, that a ferry departing from Italy was transporting a considerable amount of dangerous waste for the human health and the environment with the aim to be deposited in Albania, the work has been organized in cooperation with the Vlora and Border Police and has been finalized the police operation codenamed Amiant, and 6 persons has been detained:

During the search performed on the ferry line Brindisi - Vlora and specifically at the bottom of the garage, the seizure of large quantities of ammonium and dozens of barrels of hazardous substances aboard a Brindisi-Vlora ferry has been quickly covered in neighboring media.
Police carried out procedural actions where in the quality of material evidence, the ferry was seized as well as the amount of waste, which was not allowed to be transported out of the ferry.
Procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution at the Vlora Court of First Instance for the offense of "Smuggling of prohibited goods", "Waste management" and "Waste transportation".
