In a letter to Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the US diplomat states that the priority is for Pristina and Belgrade to return back to dialogue as soon as possible.
According to the letter, which Kurti's office has confirmed to Radio Free Europe, Pompeo also welcomes the deal to open the airline and the railway.
"Now is the time to establish normal relations with Serbia, which are centered on mutual recognition, which is essential for Kosovo's full international integration," the US Secretary of State writes.
In his congratulatory letter to the new government, Pompeo highlights Washington's support for Pristina and offers assistance in the area of economics and the rule of law.
