In a statement, the Turkish Ski Federation said Kara, 19, rescued the Slovenian minor during a pre-race training session there.

Kara has been honored with medals by Krvavec police for her bravery. She was among competitors in the Great Slalom in Krvavec held on 12-13 February.
Speaking about the incident, Kara said the Slovenian boy was frightened when he fell out of the cabin.
“I threw my ski poles and removed the gloves by mouth. When I removed them, he called and shouted, 'Please hold me with both hands,' "Kara said, adding that she had held the Slovenian with both hands for about 15 minutes.

"I went down to check on the boy and they (patrols and staff) told me he was in good shape and didn't have any problems," confessed Kara.
After the case, she says, the Slovenian news channels have called her a heroine.
"The police chief and the Slovenian officers gave me a medal of gratitude at the airport," Kara says.
Kara said she felt the duty to save a life and that she was very happy about her did.
