The US ambassador, Yuri Kim, has posted a European Union report on news of the coronavirus. Yuri Kim writes in her response that the truth about coronavirus is being erased by fake news.
"EEAS Special Report shows that those who sought to weaken Albania just a few years ago are at it again - using disinformation & propaganda to hide the truth, shift blame & pretend to be “saviors” in the very crisis they caused. History matters, facts matter.” writes Ambassador Yuri Kim.
The report posted by Yuri Kim, which is an EEAS study, says that a lot of fake news is being circulated recently that aims to conceal the truth about coronavirus.
Among other things, the report states that an example of fake news on coronavirus is when CoVid-19 has reportedly not originated in Wuhan, China, but to US or US-owned laboratories around the world.
Concerning the Balkans, the report reads: "The fake news about Covid-19 says the virus" has been developed in a lab to target China and Iran".
Such news has been seen in some media in the region. The spread of such news brings some risks to the Balkans, as they can be used as weapons in the upcoming elections in Serbia and North Macedonia; they can be used against immigrants and can be used by foreign sources to manipulate local news."
