The US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim distances herself from the rally held this evening and organized by President Ilir Meta. Referring to the American flag at the event, she states in a Twitter post that "we have nothing to do with 'tonight's manifesto'".
"I was surprised to see the American flag at tonight's" manifestation ". To avoid any confusion, we would like to clarify that while the US upholds the right of peaceful protest, we have nothing to do with the "manifestation" of tonight," the US ambassador to Tirana wrote.

At the end of the event, President Meta held up an American flag saying: "I received this flag because of dozens of Albanians from America who have left their jobs joined us. I raised this banner for Congressman Engel and all those who have defended the Albanian cause."
