 Tirana police have arrested a person declared internationally wanted, after being sentenced to 10 years in prison in Italy for theft under serious circumstances.

40-year-old Shkëlqim Çela (Çypi) from Fushë-Kruja, who had four names and surnames in use, has been arrested.

A wanted man, sentenced in Italy to 10 years in prison for "Theft under aggravating circumstances", is handcuffed.

Following the work for the arrest of wanted persons and as a result of the continuous exchange of information between the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, CZK Interpol Tirana, the Criminal Police Department, and the Italian police authorities - INTERFORZA mission, became possible to locate in the city of Tirana of a person wanted by Italian justice.

Based on this information, the Sector of Operations and Search in the Local Police Directorate of Tirana, organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Alias", within which took place the arrest and handcuffing of the citizen declared internationally wanted Shkëlqim Çela (Çypi), alias Arian KontiI, alias Fatjol Perleka, alias Shkelqim Qypi, 40 years old, born and living in the village of Luz, Fushë Krujë.

This citizen was declared internationally wanted by the Italian authorities, after the Court of Udine in Italy sentenced him to 9 years, 11 months and 20 days in prison, for the criminal offense "Theft in aggravating circumstances", provided by Articles 624 and 625 of the Italian Penal Code.

The provisional arrest was made with the aim of extraditing him to Italy, based on the 1957 "European Extradition Convention" and the Bilateral Agreement on Extradition, signed between the Republic of Albania and Italy.

Interpol Tirana in cooperation with Interpol Rome continues the actions for the extradition of this citizen to Italy.
