Albanians less at risk of COVID-19 because they have been vaccinated against tuberculosis, Oxford researcher says

The Albanian Detina Zalli, a researcher at Oxford, spoke on A2 television about coronavirus pandemic. Within a period of 6 to 12 months, the researcher states that up to 80% of the population can be infected with the coronavirus.

Detina Zalli also has good news for Albanians, although still unproven: the tuberculosis vaccine reduces the risk of Covid-19.

"It is still not based on scientific facts, there is no concrete evidence. But I want to emphasize that some scientific groups have pointed out that this vaccine also reduces the risk of COVID-19, moreover older people have less risk. We cannot say with conviction that it has an impact. In Australia, 4,000 health care workers are being tested for the tuberculosis vaccine. The results remain to be seen."

In terms of high-risk places for the spread of coronavirus, Zalli singled out the gym. "Gyms have been identified as high-risk areas, as the virus spreads more easily due to sweat and moisture." Regarding the current situation in Albania, the researcher assessed the measures taken and said that the situation is under control, in contrast to countries such as Italy or Britain.
