Following the initiatives to support the affected sectors of the Albanian economy as a result of COVID-19, the Albanian Minister of State for Reconstruction Arben Ahmetaj addressed an official letter to the Ministers of Economy of the countries of the region and the EU, to consider the possibility of cooperation with textile companies in Albania, for the production of specialized clothing in medicine and police and army uniforms:

Your Excellency, Dear Minister,

I wish to extend to you my sincerest regards from Albania.

First I wish you and your family and colleagues good health.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, The Government of Albania has taken swift measures to address both public health and economic impact particularly providing support to the most vulnerable social groups and the most affected businesses.

One sector particularly affected is that of inward-processing textiles and shoes companies that are facing a major decline of orders and contracts from many European countries partners.

They have, nevertheless, managed to adapt swiftly their production lines to be able to respond to the actual needs and shortages in medical equipment such as masks, gloves, covering head, neck and shoulders, coverall-tyvek and even specific shoes for medical staff. They have also offered to produce specific uniforms for military forces, police, firefighters and any other working staff that is now in the forefront of this war against the virus.
