The Prosecution in Peja has launched an investigation against the medical staff of the Peja Regional Hospital, for the criminal offense "unconscious medical treatment".

This was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Prosecution in Peja, Shkodran Nikçi.

"The prosecutor of the case has authorized the Kosovo Police to take investigative actions against the staff of the Peja Regional Hospital for the criminal offense of 'Unconscious Medical Treatment'," Nikçi told to media.

The prosecution has launched an investigation into the treatment of 38-year-old S.K. from the Lluga, Istog, which was reportedly killed by the coronavirus.

The family of the deceased suspects that she was not affected by the coronavirus, but died due to the negligence of doctors.

"She did not have any symptoms of the virus, but due to the negligence of the doctors, initially in Istog, and then in Peja and Pristina," said to media Alban Kukleci, a relative of the deceased.

He said family members are awaiting the results of the autopsy, to then decide on reburial procedures.

The body of the late S.K. was exhumed on Saturday and sent for abduction to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina.
