The Moglica Hydropower Plant, which has one of the two highest concrete dams in Europe and is one of the most important hydropower projects in the country, has successfully passed the test by opening its lake gates.

If the test results are within the parameters, it is expected that in a few weeks the plant will start operating.

Currently, the Norwegian company Statkraft, which is making the investment, is carrying out colaudation and testing of the Moglica Hydropower Plant. The filling of the Moglica reservoir started in June 2019 and currently, the reservoir has reached the necessary level to enable testing and opening of gates.

This hydropower plant has an installed capacity of about 184 MW and an average annual production of 450 Gwh, which will increase the production capacity in the country.

Moglica is one of the two hydropower plants of the Devoll Cascade, except for the one in Banja, which has been in operation since 2016. The investment for these two hydropower plants is estimated at over 530 million euros and enables the increase of energy production in Albania by 17%.
