The 11th plane with Russian aid arrives in Serbia

The 11th plane with medical equipment sent by Russia to help fight the coronavirus landed at Belgrade's Batajnica military airport on Saturday. The supplies are part of an agreement between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Serbian Defense Ministry said, according to the Balkan Service of Radio Free Europe.

"On Friday, the aid arrived with six planes, while during the night and this morning, at Batajnica Airport, five more planes landed," the statement said. Among the supplies are ventilators and medicines. Some Russian doctors have also arrived in Serbia.

Serbia currently has 1,476 people infected with coronavirus, while 39 patients have lost their lives.

On April 2, Vucic said he had held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and confirmed that "significant assistance is coming to Serbia." Vucic has openly criticized the European Union for what he called a lack of solidarity in times of pandemic.
