Traders of the Industrial Market in Berat are protesting in front of the municipality for the 'war salary' - a term originally used by the Prime Minister of Albania, which refers to the unemployment payment due to coronavirus.

“We have been closed since March 12 and we have not received anything. To open the market urgently so that we can start working because we are without food”.

Traders of the Industrial Market in Berat protested today in front of the city hall. About 30 traders gathered in front of the municipal institution to demand the war salary, BallkanWeb reports.

According to traders, they have not received any financial support from the government, although the Industrial Market in Berat has been closed since March 12.

Traders say that even though they have applied, they have not been involved in businesses that receive wages because they are street vendors.

Traders say they have been paying taxes and insurance regularly for years and as a family business it is the only source of livelihood they have.

"We are bankrupt," said the traders, we are already calling for the market to open immediately.

Traders are waiting for a meeting with representatives of the municipality, to find a solution for the opening of the Industrial Market and the resumption of work.
