Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama says a car-free weekend could return to normal, even after the coronavirus pandemic ends.

The news was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said in a communication with the citizens from Facebook that the weekend without cars will continue even after the Summer season.

From October to March 2021, car-free weekends can be a reality, at least for Sundays.

"The weekend without cars will remain in force for two Saturdays and Sundays and then again after the summer season, every Sunday at least from October to next March, as a weekly moment dedicated to the smokeless car air, to the elderly, children and our environment", Rama said.

Edi Rama has announced that from June 1, there will be new measures for COVID-19.

"We are taking steps according to a well-thought-out plan. we are ready to open the land borders, but we must also get the approval of other countries. Even if we want to open up, no one else opens up. Schengen until June 15 which is closed and flights as well. From June 1, we open the land borders with our neighboring countries, but not yet the beaches. I was insulted by the beachgoers because the police had picked them up from the beach in Dhërmi. No one in the world has opened the beaches. This week we are closing the beach management system and we will punish anyone without any compromise. We open them from June 1 only for hotels and after June 10 for everyone from everyone", Rama declared.
