The Section for Economic and Financial Crime, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office of the Tirana Judicial District, after an operational and investigative work, finalized the operation codenamed "Pirateria".
As part of this operation, the citizens E. D., 23 years old, J. S., 24 years old, and T. K., 27 years old, all three residents of Tirana, has been arrested.
These citizens have pirated digital platforms, to the detriment of some companies, including television rights of these platforms. THe hack is done through Dreambox, Androidbox, Set Top Box, etc. Their hacking has been done through sophisticated devices that enable the transmission of television signals. Payments to these citizens were made in cash, through bank accounts from second-tier banks and through Paypal credit cards.
As evidence, four computer units were seized which were used to pirate these platforms, 6 mobile phones of various brands, 14 Dreambox, Androidbox, Set Top Box and a vehicle.
In cooperation with the Prosecution, work continues to identify and apprehend other persons involved in this illegal activity.
The procedural materials were forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance in Tirana, in charge of the citizens E.D., J.S. and T.K., for the criminal offenses of "Violation of industrial and intellectual property rights", "Income concealment" and "Non-payment of taxes”.
