Izmir Albanians commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Greek Genocide in Chameria

 Turkish Albanians commemorate the 76th anniversary of Greek genocide against Cham Albanians. They have put a black wreath in front of the Greek consulate in Izmir, Turkey.

Albanian associations have been organized in Izmir, Turkey, to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Greek genocide against the Albanians of Chameria.

The President of the Association for Albanian Culture Alaçatı-Çeşme, Ibrahim Topalli said that they are of Albanian origin and that they will remember and mention even more the Chameria.

"We are of Albanian origin, citizens of the Republic of Turkey who live in different cities of Turkey. We are Albanians from Albania, Shkodra, Chameria, Ioannina, Kosovo, Presevo, Plava and Gucia, Ilirida, Bitola, deported, and displaced from our ethnic lands. We are essential elements and loyal citizens of this country and of the founders of the Republic of Turkey, who embraced us in the difficult days.

Of course, from now on we will remember Chameria more, and we will respect it even more. Since there is a very large "Cham Community" and living here in our country, we will bring even more to the agenda the Cham genocide. We will demand the rights of our fellow citizens and their children, who have been subjected to genocide in Chameria. We will work even harder to bring to the agenda of international actuality the genocide that the Cham people suffered from Greece.

We call on the Albanian world, from the pearl of the Aegean, from Izmir. Cham Albanians must get their rights. In this way, you, the Arbëresh of Italy and you, the Arvanites of Greece, come to the aid of the Albanians of Turkey and help us in this direction. Please support our peaceful efforts to ensure justice," he said.

At the end of the activity, the representatives of the Albanian associations left a black wreath in front of the Greek consulate in Cordon, Izmir, Turkey with the inscription 'We did not forget Chameria'.
