Albanian judge and her husband arrested after got 6000 euro for changing the final verdict

 The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has arrested a judge and her husband, as well as 3 other persons, as involved in a corruption case in the justice system.

According to SPAK, the three citizens Nejton Bali, Klaudjo Zhilla and Skënder Demiraj (a lawyer by profession), in cooperation with each other, have committed the criminal offense "Active corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials", provided by Article 319 of 25 of the Criminal Code, giving the citizen Mimoza Margjeka (Judge at the Korça Court of Appeal) 6000 (six thousand) euros as an illegal benefit.

This amount of money was given in order to change the security measure, from "prison arrest" to "property guarantee", against the citizen Orion Bali, arrested by the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance Pogradec, for the criminal offense "Assistance for illegal crossing of borders ”, provided by Article 298/3 of the Criminal Code. In exchange for the illegal benefit, it has resulted that the Korça Court of Appeals has changed the security measure from "prison arrest" to "property guarantee" for this citizen", SPAK says.

Based on the evidence administered and after the request of the prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime Tirana, with decision no. 92 dated 05.09.2020 has set:

The security measure "arrest in prison", provided by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, against citizens Nejton Bali and Klaudjo Zhilla, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Active corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials", in cooperation, provided by Article 319 and 25 of the Criminal Code.

The security measure "arrest in prison", provided by Article 238 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, against the citizen Arben Cara, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Passive corruption of judges, prosecutors and other officials of the judiciary", in cooperation, provided by Article 319 / ç and 25 of the Criminal Code.

Security measure "house arrest", provided by Article 237 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, against the citizen Skënder Demiraj, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Active corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials", in cooperation, provided by Article 319 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
