Mitsotakis hosts an honorary dinner for the Albanian Prime Minister; there are suspicions of betrayal

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis organized last night dinner in honor of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama during his arrival in Athens to attend The Economist conference while also clarifying the topics of discussion between the two counterparts.

It is further stated that the two prime ministers had the opportunity to discuss the course of bilateral relations, as well as the European perspective of Albania, which Greece has supported over time, always respecting the relative conditionality set by the European Council. They expressed their satisfaction with their cooperation within NATO.

"A special discussion was held on the Greek National Minority in Albania, which should be a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples, while emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations. Rama and Mitsotakis expressed their satisfaction for the perfectly smooth integration of Albanian citizens living in Greece.

"In the end, they agreed to work together so that the two countries can quickly resolve the unresolved issues in the past in a bilateral context and unleash the great potential that the strategic relationship between the two countries can create." said the Office of Prime Minister Mitsotakis.

Meanwhile, during his speech at the meeting organized by "THE ECONOMIST" in Athens ‘Western Balkans beyond 2020’, the head of the Albanian Government affirmed that the gaps of the past should be closed. Among other things, he brought to attention the case of disputes between Greece and North Macedonia over the issue of the name, which was resolved.

"In the Western Balkans, we have long been involved in cooperation, in peace. I think that although there are issues such as the issue of Kosovo, non-recognition by Serbia, we have been able to sit down and discuss our future together. These are special times, as we are all struck by this pandemic. And according to the forecasts of International Organizations, our region will be the hardest hit. I believe there is potential to liberate and move forward, to close the gaps of the past. I think the good news is that disputes can be resolved together. Dialogue is the only instrument to conclude this introduction. I can mention one of the most extraordinary examples of this time which is the resolution of the dialogue between North Macedonia and Greece. It has to do with something, a situation where you fight and challenge every opportunity, go against taboos. In trying to please and not having the courage to break taboos, seems to risk the career or influence (he take the example of Zahev).

"I hope we have all learned from this."

Meanwhile, some voices of intellectuals in Albania have prejudiced the meeting as a Greek hoax, and that Edi Rama may have sold the sea, which is why this dinner has been so friendly.

While during his stay there, Edi Rama apologized to the Albanian emigrants living in Greece, for not receiving proper services from our Embassy there.

The head of government also introduced the new ambassador Luela Hajdaraga, while promising that within the year, there will be more online services.

"I am sorry that the staff and the head of the embassy did not gave what they should, but this is not her fault, this is our responsibility and I apologize for all the consequences of the non-dignified service. A dedicated girl I know personally. He worked for several years in the Office of the Prime Ministery."

"The only message I have given her is to give priority to the Albanians who are in Greece."
