Albanian delegation in Syria to seek repatriation of mothers and children from the Al-Haw camp

 An official delegation from the Republic of Albania led by Albania's honorary consul in Lebanon Mark Gharib has started an official visit to northeastern Syria, for the purpose of repatriating Albanian mothers and children remaining in the infamous Al-Hawl camp. In the meeting where the representatives of the anti-terror in the State Police Gledis Nano and Indrit Doda were also present has been discussed the issue of repatriation of Albanians. They were received in the foreign relations department of Syria.

For almost a month, Albanian anti-terror structures continue to stay in Lebanon to enable the return of Albanian mothers and children. Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior, Sander Lleshaj, spoke about the same issue at the online Ministerial of the Ministers of Interior and Justice of the Western Balkans and the EU.


Lleshaj said that the latest report of the European Commission, says that Albania has made significant progress in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, while the Albanian government considers the repatriation of children a necessity.

There are about 80 Albanian mothers and children in Syria in the Al-Hawl camp. Their families in Albania have been seeking the repatriation of their relatives for a long time.
