Eva and Endri Dumani were respectively 8 and 6 years old when their father abducted them 6 years ago and went with them to Syria to join the jihadists in the Islamic State. A year later, their grandmother Mentije Dumani went to Syria to get the children, but she too remained there, imprisoned along with the children in Al-Hawl camp until she passed away a few weeks ago.
Today, after 6 years, Endrit's mother, Mide Ndregjoni, finally managed to see her son, who was part of the group of 5 people repatriated from the Al-Hawl camp in Syria. However remains mysterious the fact that her daughter, Eva, refused to return, hiding from the authorities who had entered the camp to look for her.
After returning to Albania together with 5 Albanians (including 4 children), Prime Minister Rama, showed how their reintegration into society will be done. "The structure is ready for these 4 children and for all the others that will come later, with teachers and psychologists. We will work step by step to then integrate them into social structures."
"I am very happy that we have closed the first phase of a confusing operation, however successful. And what is even more important is that we already have the basis to proceed with the second phase. The other children have been identified, they have become a good part of the contacts and interviews and I believe that sooner or later, we will bring back the rest", declared Rama.
