Montenegro has sought Interpol assistance due to threats through social media against Dritan Abazovic, leader of the United Reform Action (URA).
Montenegrin police identified the person R.SH., from Rozaje, who threatened Dritan Abazovic, through the social network Facebook. But, since R.SH. does not live in Montenegro, Interpol was asked for help. This was confirmed to Radio Free Europe by Montenegrin police.
"According to the statement of a close relative, R.SH. does not live in Montenegro, but in Sweden and we have forwarded a request to Interpol in Sweden through the Department for Operational Cooperation, requesting certain checks for this person", stated in the police response.
Through comments on Facebook, it is suspected that R.SH., on September 10, told Abazovic that he would be massacred if he continued his "friendship", that is, negotiations and cooperation with the "Chetniks".
This case, according to the police, is being handled by the Ulcinj Prosecutor's Office.
"Abazovic was informed of the activities undertaken and stated that he did not feel threatened in relation to these threats," police said.
Due to a series of threats, on September 3, the URA requested an urgent assessment of the safety of the leader, Dritan Abazovi and his property by the Montenegrin National Security Agency (ANB) and the Police Directorate.
