The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku invited to Euronews Albania at the Ilva Now show, commented on the construction projects for the country's airports. She stressed that the Albanian government intends to turn Vlora Airport into Albania's main airport.

"In Vlora, we intend to construct the main airport of the Republic of Albania. Vlora will be built with another runway length. Tirana and Vlora will be in competition with each- other, and this will bring better services. "Undoubtedly, all this goes to the benefit of the citizens", she said.

She also stopped at the airport of Kukës, which according to Balluku is conceived to serve as a regional airport, the beneficiary of which will be not only Kukës people who are in emigration, but also citizens from Kosovo.

Balluku added further that Saranda Airport is intended to be a seasonal airport, which will basically serve the tourism sector.

"Kukës Airport is a regional airport, it is built not only for Albania, but also for Kosovo because it really is Prishtina, but the residents of Ferizaj are closer to Kukës. It is an airport for the needs of that area. If that area has immigration, those destinations will be covered. Saranda Airport is a seasonal airport that will accommodate the needs of special flights, and the flights will be from April to October. "Everything has been done with studies", she added.

On the other hand, the journalist Neritan Sejamini also present in the show expressed his conviction that Vlora airport will never be built.

"Vlora Airport will never be built," he said among other things, hinting that this declaration aims for some votes in the upcoming elections.
