The increase in the total number of patients with covid has also increased the number of children affected by this virus in Albania since the beginning of the pandemic, 716 children aged 1 month to 15 years have been officially affected. The age group 0-4 years includes 0.8% of those affected, while 2% of the overall COVID-19 positive includes the age group 4-15 years. Since the beginning of the pandemic in the ward dedicated to children with covid, there have been 62 children, while 10 of them according to the Head of the Infectious Pediatrics Service are currently receiving medication.
"The increase in the positive number has now given the increase in the number of positive children. Currently, we have 10 hospitalized children, in a controlled clinical condition, who are in good condition but stay because of concomitant pneumonia, laboratory examinations that are not normalized. We have a child with severe pneumonia with respiratory failure, ie with oxygen, but not with directed breathing, and the child who was transferred to us yesterday who tested positive for suspected Kawasaki syndrome,"- says the head of the Infectious Pediatrics Service, Georgia Kuli.
