Beso Buranaj is one of the successful Albanians living in the USA. He has a degree in chemical and petroleum engineering and currently lives in Houston.

Besmiri has worked on nuclear power plants, those biofuels while currently working as an oil engineer at Baker Hughes in Texas.

Speaking about "Boeing 104.6" on Radio Travel Beso says that he has dealt with many things in the field of energy. "This has been my main goal, but as always everything depends on energy, from time to time I got into the profession of petroleum engineers like my father and most of the other Albanians who are here in Houston," he said.

Beso says that many Albanians are already moving to Houston and there are several reasons for that.

"I say there is a reason why there have been so many Albanians in recent years who have started moving to Texas, from New York, Detroit, California and I believe the biggest reason is that you have more opportunities than in some other countries. Especially depends on the craft. Texas is very big and I can also talk about Houston which is bigger than New York, but not so dense. It is not the same culture as we are used to in Europe. We in Chicago or others as Europeans can adapt a little easier. Yes, Houston is different. Taxes are cheaper," he told Houston, which is known as an oil-priority area.

For the oil engineer originally from Fier it is difficult to say what are the sources of the future, as the reasons are different. He said companies have started investing in different types of energy and 2020 has created that break from the tradition of this industry.

Beso has three projects for the maintenance of oil reserves in Albania, earthquakes due to seismology, and Energy Security of natural resources. But does Albania have natural resources?

"I say yes, every country so small has resources that can survive or sustain itself. Yes, Albania is not only sustainable but an Energy Power House in the Balkans. It is not only politics that is a problem, but also bureaucracy, infrastructure. When I say infrastructure, for example, if you had a football team you could have a goalkeeper and a striker if you did not have eight good players you could not succeed. You must also have capable reserves. This is a problem that lies in Albania, it is not that you have the right education to get the right people. If you bring in people from abroad like TAP, investing will not be economical. This is generally. I did a study with AKBN and the idea was to look at the reserves in Albania and we can say that the largest reserves that are in Albania, in Europe, it is true are in Patos Marinza, not including Russia that is not considered part of Europe and not including the UK. The problem is that it is very heavy oil, and to have heavy oil you have to have capable refineries. We have had three, maybe two now, the problem is that we do not have the right infrastructure. "It is unbelievable how expensive oil is in Albania," he said.

Beso Buranaj counts over 20 articles and four study patents, while he is also a member of the association Albanian Roots in the US.
