Bulgaria informed the European Commission that could not accept the proposed negotiating framework for the Republic of North Macedonia and its draft declaration. This is because it does not provide the necessary guarantees for the fulfillment of the conditions set by our country, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). In a statement sent to the media, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that "Bulgaria thanked the German Presidency of the Council of the EU and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhej for their constructive attitude and joint daily work in seeking a solution, which is not excluded to be achieved despite short deadlines.” Radio Bulgaria reports.
The position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that it is not acceptable for Bulgaria that our conditions towards the Republic of North Macedonia be recorded in the statement of the EU Council under the negotiating framework, which is not a legally binding document and does not provide legal guarantees required by Bulgaria.
