The Minister of Health, Ogerta Manastirliu has opened today the COVID-4 hospital which will have a medical staff that will serve only patients with COVID-19 who need special treatment after the acute phase.
COVID-4 has hosted tonight the first coronavirus patients coming from COVID-1 and COVID-3 hospitals. Also, the medical staff that will work in this hospital is trained for patients infected with this virus.
Manastirliu stressed that preparation is already needed for other pandemic scenarios as it is already clear that the numbers have increased, and with them the hospitalizations.
COVID-4 Hospital has a capacity of 100 beds and will have patients from other COVID hospitals, who have passed the acute stage of coronavirus infection and need special treatment.
"We managed to open it today, after a lot of intensive work during the last days. It is one thing to work for infrastructure and another thing to start work and treat patients.
We had become part of our strategy in the first phase of 4 hospitals. This came in the context of increasing cases and depletion of capacity in the first three hospitals. It has been intensive work for the implementation of this hospital.
