Italy has fined Apple 10 million euros for some allegations considered fraudulent by customers to whom the iPhone was sold claiming to be water-resistant.

The ad that was made to the latest models was that they resisted up to 30 minutes in water at a depth ranging from 1 to 4 meters. But in the meantime, it turned out that the resistance in question was valid only for very clean water under laboratory conditions, and not under normal circumstances of use. The Italian Competition and Market Authority said that the fact that the company did not cover the damages caused despite the claims for water resistance was an "aggressive" practice.

The allegations in question applied to some models ranging from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 11. According to the authorities, even the advertisement that shows the iPhone during contact with water, is misleading, while the company did not clearly explain the type of warranty to which it referred.
