Italy will offer the first "Covid-free" air corridor from Europe to the US

Italy is expected to introduce the first "Covid-free" air corridor between Europe and the US for passengers who tested negative for coronavirus, thus eliminating the need for quarantine on arrival.

Rome Fiumicino Airport announced that has reached a preliminary agreement with Alitalia and Delta Air Lines in the US for several trips between North American cities and the Italian capital, starting in December.

Under the agreement, passengers will undergo a Covid-19 test 48 hours before leaving for the United States and vice versa. If they are negative, then they will avoid the 14-day quarantine in both destinations.

"Careful implementation of anti-Covid testing protocols is the best way to safely resume international flights until vaccination begins," said Steve Sear of Delta.

Fiumicino Airport suggests that following the travel agreement with the US, the same is being discussed with the cities of Munich and Frankfurt in Germany.
