North Macedonia sets a record, 40 COVID-19 victims

 North Macedonia registered on Monday 40 COVID-19 deaths, the Institute of Public Health announced. This is the highest death toll in a single day since the outbreak of the coronavirus in February this year in this country.

The victims are; Skopje (10), Prilep (5), Gostivar (3), Bitola (3), Stip (3), Veles (3), Kumanovo (2), Struga (2), Kavadarci (2), Kichevo (2) and one in Sveti Nikole, Tetovo, Dojran, Strumica and Krushevo.

The total number of victims registered with COVID-19 has reached 1,345 people, many of whom are from Skopje.

According to the report, 591 people were infected with COVID-19 while 439 others were cured. The data refer to the testing of 1,683 samples in all public and private laboratories.

Currently in North Macedonia, 47,636 people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus, of which 27,803 have been cured while 18,488 are active.

The Infectious Diseases Clinic and other hospitals in the country are treating over 500 people, many of whom are on oxygen therapy. The Ministry of Health has announced the transformation of several other clinics to COVID-19 disease centers as well as the distribution of rapid tests in six other cities, except Skopje.

The Commission for Infectious Diseases on Monday discussed the epidemiological situation in North Macedonia and did not propose new restrictive measures on the grounds that the measures in force are sufficient, but should be respected by citizens.

Measures remain in force, such as banning the gathering of more than four people throughout the day, as well as banning the work of gastronomic facilities after 21:00.
