Remains of Albanians lost in the war discovered in Serbia

Mortuary remains suspected of belonging to Kosovo Albanians were found in Kizhevak near Raska, Serbia.

The news for REL was confirmed by Arsim Gërxhaliu from the Kosovo Institute of Forensic Medicine. "I can confirm that they are the bones of Kosovo Albanians, in Kizhevak, Serbia", said Gërxhaliu.

Excavations started 5 years ago in this area.

"For the last three weeks, we've been to a Forensic team every week and we've seen them. "As soon as the third team in a row arrived, has encountered bones", said Gërxhaliu. Now, according to him, the working procedure changes, because the case passes from the prosecutor to the judge in Serbia, and decisions are made on how the work will continue since it can be interrupted that with heavy machinery. Kosovo conditions the final agreement with Serbia on the issue of missing persons.

According to data published by the non-governmental organization Fund for Humanitarian Law, since 2001, mass graves with the bodies of 941 Albanians killed in Kosovo in 1999 have been discovered in four areas in the territory of Serbia. Meanwhile, 1,643 are still missing, about whose fate nothing is known since 1998-'99.
