Jakup Krasniqi in Hague Tribunal
Tearful before the Hague Tribunal, the former Kosovo Assembly Speaker Jakup Krasniqi spoke about the indictment against him and his associates for war crimes. Krasniqi could not hide his emotions, while he described his arrest as injustice.

Among other things, he said that they tried to divide them into Catholics and Muslims, but as he says this is insulting to him and his people.

The Tribunal says the accused Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders, has acted as a criminal enterprise. But regarding this accusation, Krasniqi says that he and his collaborators were only liberation enterprise. According to him, everything is woven in Belgrade.

The former speaker also mentioned that he has never treated people in his life, as they (the Tribunal) has treated him from the prison building to today to the courtroom.

"I want to say two or three issues and I will try to tell you briefly. First, I want to say here that I was arrested on November 4, 2020. In the indictment, you are calling us a joint criminal enterprise. I want to declare today that I have never in my life in any single case treated people as badly as you treated me from the prison building to this building. I have never treated people in this way in my life. That was not my intention.

That's why I feel more than good. And I would never want to be in the guise of people who have a criminal spirit. I am an intellectual and a man who fought Serbia politically. In the indictment, you try to divide Albanians into Catholics and Muslims. I am Albanian, this is insulting to me, even to my country. The qualification of the prosecutor of the Specialized Chambers that we are a joint criminal enterprise, for me and my friends, is very low.

We are a joint liberation enterprise. While there are joint criminal enterprises not only in Serbia, it was and is head and heels that of Belgrade today. I believe very much that every educated citizen who is at least 30 years old and lives in the countries of western democracies knows this, those who have been raised and educated with the values of this kind of world. I do not want to go into too much detail today, but I want to tell you that I was convicted by the criminal regimes of Yugoslavia in 81-82 and they convicted me for reading books and for opposing that regime.

But believe me, they were more right than the reason that I am here today. A great injustice has been done to me. Our people say the man is stronger than stone. I and my people have endured many injustices and we have not needed this injustice. In other sessions, I will say even more. "I would not feel good to be in the service of Serbia's crime policies, for which the Serbian prosecutor these days said that after the indictment was filed, I think that the clear address of this masquerade is in Belgrade", Krasniqi said.
