From March 2020 to September 30, 2020, there are 875 pregnant women infected with the coronavirus in Italy.
This data was published by the Italian Supreme Institute of Public Health following a study of the Italian Obstetric Surveillance System.
The first case of a pregnant woman infected with Covid 19 in Italy has been verified on 25 February 2020 and to date no death of a pregnant woman by Covid has been verified.
53% of infected cases are in the Lombardia region and for each positive case in pregnant women, an information register has been created on their clinical condition, health care therapy, as well as on their socio-demographic characteristics.
Only 2% of infected pregnant women were treated in the intensive care unit, 18.6% had, as a result, a bilateral lung.
In the statistical analysis of the studied cases, it is estimated that at a national level in every 1000 births 2.9% of women are infected with the coronavirus.
In the northern regions this percentage averages 5.5% per 100 births, in the central regions 1.6% per 1000 births, in southern Italy 0.6% infected women per 1000 births and in particular in the Lombardy region, most affected region, positive cases in pregnant women are 8.9% in every 1000 births.
13% of births were premature and almost twice as much compared to the national coefficient and why in 71% of cases the decision was made before their spontaneous birth.
From March to September 2020, 6 infant deaths in the womb and 1 infant death after birth were verified, related to the consequences caused by the infection.
Of all the cases analyzed, only 2.8% of them were positive after birth. In the last 24 hours, Italy has registered 662 victims and 21,052 infected with Covid 19.
The number of active infected today is 754 169.
Today has marked 23 023 more healed and their total number has reached 896 308.
In the intensive care units the number of patients is currently 3517 infected.
In-home isolations are 720 494 infected and 30 158 others who are being treated in hospital facilities.
In the last 24 hours, about 195 thousand tampons have been performed and to date their number is almost 23 million tampons performed.
