Manastirliu today during today's communication of tehe Expert Committee |
Albania follows the path of European countries and suspends flights with Great Britain, while there will be new rules for those coming from Great Britain.
The statement was made by the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu during today's communication of the Expert Committee.
"Today there was a regular meeting of the Technical Committee of Experts and after analyzing the epidemiological situation, new information so far regarding the newly identified mutation of SARS COV2, has decided to recommend taking increased measures to protect public health from infection Sars-Cov2.
From the data of the European Center for Disease Control to date, on the new variant of Sars-Cov 2, identified in the UK, which in recent weeks has faced a rapid increase in cases of Covid19, we are informed that the UK authorities and EU countries are continuing to conduct further epidemiological investigations, to further assess the impact of this new variant of Sars-Cov 2.
The ECDC estimates in advance that this new mutation of Sars-Cov 2 is significantly more transmissible than variants that have circulated before. Increased transmission leads to an increased likelihood of faster spread, especially at this time of year, where there is an increased intensity of contacts, increased family and social gatherings.
As above, taking into account the recommendations of the Technical Committee, to further limit the risk of spreading the infection as well as the high risk caused by the new variant of Sars Cov2, we have decided:
Suspension of flights with Great Britain, starting from 06:00 am on Tuesday, 22 December, until 06 January. A mandatory 14-day quarantine is also imposed on citizens entering from Britain via other routes.
