Albanian President says the approaching of the Elections brings the increase of Cannabis cultivation

The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, invited today on the show "Aktualitet" with the journalist Bejdo Malo on Fax News TV, stated that the national security is being seriously violated.

According to him, at a time when the parliamentary elections are approaching, cannabis areas and the activities of criminal groups are increasing in the country.

Question: According to VOA, or according to European Union statistics, Italy has flown over 1970 hours of flights in Albanian territory.

Surprisingly there are 1970 parcels and over 25% more than in previous years with narcotic plants, even though we had a General as a Minister.

President Meta: The fact that we are in an electoral year, is not to ask for too much commitment in this regard. It is known how many times there have been electoral periods, the areas cultivated with narcotics have increased. But, unfortunately, the activities of other criminal groups have also increased. This finding, which also came from the United Nations, which considers Albania as the main source in Europe, for cannabis and trafficking, are already repeated, are solid and of course, is the total lack of political will to fight these phenomena.

And even worse is the political game, to use such criminal activities in the interest of distorting the electoral process, or favors, to lure these groups in an attempt to inadvertently retain power.

Question: If you look at it when we say the ruling party, we always mean the Socialist Party, but all this increase in cannabis roots has been accompanied by a chain of murders. Even the murders are so interconnected, they are so serial, that we as citizens are scared. Has the security been compromised?

President Meta: There is no doubt that national security has been seriously compromised. The more criminal phenomena increase, the more the phenomenon of money laundering increases, the more the climate of competition and demotivation of those who do honest and healthy business is undermined, the more problems there will be with national security.

Also in terms of the national economy, as it is understood in such a situation all serious domestic or foreign investors are demotivated.

Of course, this is an encouragement only for criminal groups, which seek to dominate in every aspect, in trade, in construction, in every investment.

In this way we see how the costs of citizens increase, the prices of both construction and everything else increase.

Of course, this turns all businesses into subcontractors to subcontractors. So everyone works for very few people.
