Data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) from a report on the Albanian diaspora show that the highest number of Albanian emigrants are young people.
The number of new emigrants in 2019, expanded the Albanian diaspora by 2.6%.
According to estimates, the number of the new diaspora is estimated to be about 1.64 million citizens abroad or about 36% of Albanian citizens, as Euronews Albania reports.
From the data of January 1, 2020, of INSTAT, the age group with the highest number of persons who have emigrated is the between 35-39 years old with 175,383 persons, which is followed by the second age group with the highest number of emigrants, 30-34 with 174,714 persons.
As can be seen in the table, according to INSTAT, the age group under 39 occupy the highest number of Albanian emigrants, which are young people.
Meanwhile, the age group 0-14 years old makes up 19%, the age group (15-65 years old) 76% and over 65 years old approximately 5%.
Diaspora estimated by INSTAT is estimated at 1,684,135 individuals outside the territory of Albania,
where 884,719 individuals are male and 799,416 are female.
During 2019 we see an increase in the diaspora by about 2.6%.
