The Institute for Democracy and Mediation with the support of American Democratic Institute in Albania has conducted a survey on political engagement in Albania. The survey assessed the level of citizen engagement in democratic processes from voting to campaigning by making comparisons with participation levels in 2016.
In the end, it turned out that Albanians feel disconnected from the government and politics as two-thirds of them express dissatisfaction with the work of government institutions and opposition structures. Meanwhile, more than two-thirds say that citizens need to know who finances political and electoral campaigns.
Compared to 2016, it has resulted that citizens see more opportunities for engagement in civic initiatives than in political parties.
