The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, has made very strong accusations against the Serbian state for what he considered as a game for the depopulation of areas inhabited by Albanians.

During the decoration ceremony of Muharrem Salihu with the title of Knight of the Order of Skanderbeg, Meta said that the efforts of the Albanian state should be increased to further support our compatriots in Serbia, as a national hemorrhage is taking place there.

"Mr. Saliu represents a long-standing trend of this diaspora: the connection with the native lands, the extraordinary contribution and dedication to helping it. This contribution is a legacy for us to witness to the world the traces of our early national existence in Medvedja, the well-known municipality of the Presevo Valley, which today is shrinking and shrinking, but Muharrem does not want to allow this. And Muharrem has called on us to join his national enterprise.

I have made this journey and understood Muharrem. I understood why Serbia intends to depopulate Medvedja in a dishonest game of unequal territorial corrections. I encourage the creation of the Political Council and its symbolical placement in Medvedja, to stop our further national hemorrhage there", said Meta.

President Meta praised Muharrem Salihu for his ongoing support of Albanians in the Presevo Valley, Medvedja, and Bujanovac.
