Matvei Petrov wins gold for Albania in Pommel Horse in Turkey

 Albania has managed to win a gold medal at the European Gymnastics Championships, thanks to the athlete of Russian origin, Matvei Petrov.

In the competition held in Mersin, Turkey, Petrov won more points than everyone in the category of Pommel Horse.

Petrov explained the choice to represent Albania: 

“When I did not qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games, I ended my career as a gymnast and moved to Prague to work as a coach. I did not think about pursuing a career as a gymnast. But while working as a coach, I found some free time, so I started training again and realized that I was still in good shape. And I was lucky because the director of the gym where I worked was Albanian. This is how my story with Albania started", Matvei Petrov said.
